CNA Certification

Getting a CNA certification requires an arduous yet nonetheless rewarding process. Being a nursing assistant is, in itself, a very rewarding profession as well.

If you feel that helping patients will be a good job for you, then you should start your ways towards being certified. To get a head start in attaining your CNA certification, find a good school where you may take your certification classes. Community colleges offer good certification classes that only cost around a thousand dollars. If you do not have a fixed time schedule, you may choose to undergo your certification classes online. The course will take around 75 hours of your time, which you may spread out for weeks or even months. Out of these 75 hours, 16 hours would have to be spent for practical clinical examinations. You have full control of your class schedule if you choose to take classes online.

The next step to attaining a CNA certification is taking and passing the certification exam. This part is something that all certified nursing assistants had to go through. The exam includes two parts, a written part and a practical part. The questions included in the written part will test you on the different skills that a CNA should possess, like keeping patient records, performing laboratory procedures, and providing the basic needs of the patients. The practical part of the examination will test how well you can perform the most basic clinical procedures, like properly position patients based on their ailments, taking body temperature, and other such skills. You will be given your CNA certification after you pass the exam. You may then apply to the hospital of your choice for a nursing assistant position. However, the process does not end there. You will be required to undergo a 12-hour course every year in order to maintain your certification.
